The artist's original Sound Fountains had to be modified extensively to work permanently in a public space. Working with sound engineers Joe and Bee Robertson and industry partners /sponsors of her work Funktion One , speaker configurations were redesigned.

“What I find appealing in Caroline's work is the translation of sound into patterns of visible vibration.  Every existing thing is a pattern of vibrating standing waves and Caroline's work gives us an insight into this.

Our contribution at Funktion One was to find a way to use one of our loudspeakers to energise the tank and to ensure a good connection between the two.”
