FEAR FACTOR SEVEN is Caroline
Locke’s seven screen video installation exploring the curious relationship
we have with superstitions. From knocking on wood to saluting lone magpies
this installation is an examination of the fear factor associated with
superstition and perceived safety of rituals intended to counteract bad
luck. In this new work, and as an expansion on the theme of opposition
and reversal of Locke’s earlier pieces, she turns the idea of superstition
on its head, deliberately spilling salt, crossing knives and breaking
mirrors.
In collaboration with Su Ansell, Caroline Locke was
nominated for the BBC Birmingham Short Film Award for their video short
Will- (Will is the short film version of fear factor seven, considering
similar themes).
